Tried to drive to Goose from Carson via the Panther creek road. Got past Crest camp but 2 miles east of Crest Camp ran into drifts of snow I was unable to negotiate with boat and trailer. Deep ruts where someone had gotten high centered and cut branches to get out. Backtracked and went in from Trout Lake. I was within 3 miles of the lake ! The snow was slushy and I suppose in another week we will be able to make it from the west.

The fishing was quite good ... the lake was stocked with browns all about a foot long yesterday.
The lake is high and there is much less room than usual on the bank as the water is up in the bushes. Nobody caught any holdovers...all either new browns or the usual little eastern brooks.

I used a brown caddis on top and a marabou damsel on a slow sinking line.

Hello, can you tell me how to reach Goose from the east side? I always go in from the Wind R. side. Thank you. Float2ber

Drive up highway SR 14 and cross the White Salmon River (almost to the Hood River bridge) turn left (north) and follow the Highway 141 past Husum and BZ corner to Trout Lake... keep to the left as you enter the town and follow the road (#60) west to Goose lake. Paved all the way except the last 4 miles of pretty good gravel road.
You can also come north through Willard but there is 10 miles of pretty bumpy gravel road.
