Went to Banks for Memorial Day Weekend. The action was good, lots of smallies and a few perch just like the earlier report. Got one 28" Wally. Windy, Windy, WINDY!! We couldn't get the boat off the trailer Monday morning, and fought the wind most of the weekend (leading to the average fishing and the middle of the road rating). Going back in two weeks, cant wait!

TCB,

Where did you launch at? We launched at Sunbanks Resort and could barely get our 18 footer out of there because it was so shallow. There's a great launch on the north end by the dam that we took out at.

South of sunbanks is Northrup Canyon launch (about 10min south) on the same side of the lake. It's a state launch so it requires pay or a 50$ annual fee. You can also launch at steamboat rock state park, about 3min further south from northrup canyon, but is also a state park and requires the same fees/passes.

Northrup is a western facing launch, Steamboat is an eastern facing launch. they are basically right across the punchbowl from each other.

Go Northrup, its a beautiful 2 launch site, all cement and hardly ever crowded.

usmc68,

register in the forums and ask the question again. I can answer more in-depth there.

If you have never been over there, there are TONS of places to pull off the road (that are motorhome safe). Steam Boat has good fishing too, but you might do better away from the campgroud a little ways due to the water toy traffic.
