Took the family to Easton State park on Lake Easton for Memorial day weekend. We camped for three days and it was a bunch of fun. Fishing however was not. I kicked myself for not checking this site before I made my reservations. I always camp some where that the fishing is decent. Well not this time. We arrived at about 3PM Friday. I was on the water by 5PM. Hit Easton first. Marked fish every where on the finder. Had a couple of nibbles, no takers. Fished for two hours and called it a night. Went to Kachess the next day and caught what people kept telling me were Shad, but I just looked up Shad on the internet, and these things looked nothing like Shad. They were disgusting looking, kinda like a mix between a trout and a LMB. The mouths were long and flat, and opened up like a bass. Weirdest fish I've ever seen. NO TROUT! Again I marked fish all over the place but I just kept catching this ugly fish that averaged about 1 lb per fish. Oh well, at least the kids got to reel something in the boat. Went to one of the ponds off I-90 the next day, fished from shore and got skunked again. Saw an older gentleman bring in a nice 14 incher, so that bought me another hour of fishing. It was cold and windy, and momma had dinner goin on the fire, so it was time to split. Good camping, bad fishing. Could anyone who knows anything about fishing this county fill me in on some good spots? It's really close to home, and a fun place to camp. Also, anyone who knows what kinda of fish are in Lake Kachess, please fill me in.
