I spent the morning working on boat trailer lights. Finally found the problem and decided it wasn't too late to hit the lake for a couple of hours. Arrived at Devereaux Lake about 11:00 AM and launched my small electrically powered boat. No gas engines are allowed on the lake. It was a little windy as I started fishing, making it a little difficult to fish. Only had one strike but that was a very nice fish. She weighed 4 pounds, 4 ounces and measured 19 1/2 inches. But -- that is only part of the story. I hooked her at exactally the same place where I had caught a gill damaged fish last July. I marveled at her recovery at the time and was amazed that she had survived. Anyway the fish I caught this morning had exactly the same gill damage -- well healed this time. I am convinced in my own mind she is the same fish I caught and released last year. Something to be said for catch and released. Of course, she was thanked for the memories and gently released again. Oh, she also hit the exact same lure that she hit last year -- a black jig.
