Made the long trip to Banks yesterday and actually caught some fish. We went with the hope of catching some smallmouth and some walleye. Well, we caught some smallmouth but no walleye. I'm sure the lack of our walleye success is directly related to my technique or lack thereof.
The smallies were caught on #9 Suspending Rapalas in perch and craw colors. Our walleye attempts were with jigs and bottom bouncers with worm harnesses on the flats south of Steamboat Rock and in front of Barker Canyon. The morning weather was about as perfect as we could have asked for. The wind kicked up mid-afternoon creating some nasty chop eventually prompting us to call it a day.
If you have any suggestions as to best places to try and/or methods for smallies and walleye, login to the forums and let me know. It's hard to drive 2 1/2 hours one way and stab in the dark for location and method.
