Decided last minute to do some bass fishing today. Being still "early" in the season for bass, I figured I would head to one of my favorite "shallow water" lakes. Thinking that the shallow water may warm quicker, and with our weather not exactly doing much to warm up anything these days, I thought it would be the best bet?
I got to the lake at about 11:30am. There were about ten vehicles parked in the lot, almost all with trailers hooked up. I saw about four boats fishing for trout, the rest appeared to be after bass as well? I launched, headed for the North West side of the lake. I began tossing a spinnerbait and slow rolling it back to the boat....no results. Water temps were around 47 degrees, 49 in a couple spots, and the water was fairly stained, possibly from all the rain and wind last week. I tried a black and blue jig, and a Senko....still nothing.
It has been my observation that the bass really don't get too excited until the water temps hit about 50 to 52 degrees. The wind started to pick up, so I decided to cut and run for another lake in the area, it was about 2pm now and I hadn't seen or heard of anyone else catching any fish of any kind, so off I went....to Lake Wiser:)
