Me and Greg got to the boat launch before light. Wanted to catch the first morning bite. We were excited b/c this is one of our favorite lakes to fish in the winter. Have yet to be skunked there despite sometimes very windy, cold, and rainy conditions. This day was not bad for a late winter day of fishing. We motored out to our hot spot and threw a couple lines in. We used rainbow power bait and shrimp scent about 12" off the bottom. I only caught one fish (maybe 10") and missed many bites. Greg caught 3 or 4 with one that was really nice. This rainbow had the most beautiful pink color to it. Had to have been close to 18" and was fat too and put up one heck of a fight. I was envious but it was still fun to watch. After that the bite was off and things slowed down so we trolled pop gear and a worm up the middle of the lake with no luck. Then around noon we called it a day. Another great day at spencer. Can't wait to get out there again.
