What a weekend!

Saturday, 2/17/07 through Sunday, 2/18/07

Got up to the lake with my good friend Mr. Sam K. after a looooooong winters wait to start fishing again. He has a cabin up on the island and was generous enough to let me stay the weekend. This was my first time up to Lone Lake and he said the fishing should be productive. On Saturday, we started fishing the lake at around 8:00 am and ended at 10:30 am then came back again at 3:00 pm and fished until 5:30 pm if i remember right. Sunday we just came out at around 12:00 pm and fished until 3:00 pm. For the most part, we both used a silver Triple Teaser lure (pinched barb, single hook) both days and trolled the lake with his new Minn Kota. I don't understand why, but the fish loved that lure. We fished mostly on the bottom all over the lake and it didn't seem to matter where we caught our fish. All the fish hit and fought extremely hard for their size. On Saturday together we caught about 12 fish, and on Sunday about 10. If you don't want to do the math thats 22 for the two days. None were under 13 inches but never over 17 inches. We were hoping to get at least a fish over 18 inches or over to keep but that didn't happen. Maybe next time... Saturday it was extremely windy all day. Sunday it was very calm with slight breezes. I will for sure be back on this lake. I think its one of my favorite trout fishing lakes now. I like how its a restricted regulations lake because it preserves the fish size and population. Will be back with Sam to try my luck for bass in the spring and summer though as well as more trout fishing.
