Here is the latest update for Battle Ground Lake. WDFG put in some, brooders, and about 3500 8-12" trout. Fishing has been good for those fishing off of boats, while the bank anglers are finding okay success with powerbait fished on the bottom, or slowly trolled. I prefer to drift with powerbait near the bottom, and the fish love it! Be prepared for most of your strikes to come as your line hangs straight up and down off the bottom from the boat. Don't reel fast, because the trout like to follow the bait right up to the surface, and I have had some really cool surface strikes just as my bait reached the surface. For those who like to troll hardware, small dodgers with spoons, spinners and small plugs are producing well, but be sure to troll slow and deep (those who have downriggers use them), because the trout are right off of the bottom and won't move very far to chase down a lure. I find that the fishing picks up in early and late morning, but peaks at around noon to three. Evenings are also a good time to try too. The main idea here today though is if you have a boat, use it you will have much better luck than from the dock. Tight Lines!
