Co-------old, but water was almost crystal-clear. Only a few rises here and there sporadically, so my first choice of flies was a "Bloodworm" but it was fruitless for an hour. To break the silence and emptiness, I switched to a 12-3x "Olive Woollybugger" and trolled slow. Finally, the slow trolling attracted or fooled a nice 18-inch bow and I ended up catching 2 more bows. Because it was so cold, I did not expect to catch many.
My fishing friend Eldon tied a nymph pattern called "Nothing." Nothing worked for a while, but he caught a gorgeous 20-inch bow because "Nothing" worked. Hopefully, his "Nothing" and my "Woollybugger" will work next week.
