I stopped by the lake about noon to see if there was any action and talked to the regulars on the docks. Nothing much. So I drove up the Humptulips River to seen if there were any searun cutthroat in. That was pretty quiet too.
I was back at Lake Aberdeen by 3:00 p.m. I put the canoe in at the boat launch and headed up the lake trolling a woolly bugger. I had a strike fairly soon, but didn't land him. I anchored for a bit on the east side of the lake and cast for a while. Picked up two fish of about 10 or 12 inches. Released them.
I then cruised the east shore. After about 10 minuted the rod started bucking and I succeeded in netting a nice 16 inch Rainbow. Released him also.
The breeze was picking up by this time and I called it a day - and a season. The lake will close this week. I've never failed to catch a nice fish or two at the lake. I'll be back in May to see how these fish have grown through the winter.
