Had planned to go to Lake Roosevelt but my wife had to spend Friday evening at ER for some outpatient treatment, so instead of an early rising and departure, we ended up deciding on a closer, local lake. We changed plans and decided to visit Clear Lake for the last day of the regular season so we loaded the boat and left, but as we pulled up to the gate at the military resort, we found it closed.
Not wanting to make a u-turn with the boat in tow and return to the public launch, we decided to go on to Silver Lake.
I always check out the launch area as we pull in to see how much "traffic" there is and there were only a few trucks in the lot. WooHoo! No fun boaters today!
We launched without delay, and headed to our favorite spots. I was eager to try out the new bow mount trolling motor which worked like a dream on the wind swept waters. Fishing was slow, and we didn't find any decent keepers on this outing, but we still had a good time and caught some fish.
I did have to make a comment to the guys who decided to park halfway down to the water's edge while we were launcing the boat and inform them it was a no parking zone. "That's ok", he said, "We're just letting the dogs run and swim" as they got their lawn chairs and coolers out for the afternoon. Oh, my mistake, I didn't know the no parking zone only applied to people who were there to fish.
