I returned from vacation and thanks to Easy Limit's heads-up realized I still had a chance to catch some sockeye! So I took my son James for an over-nighter. Started at 6pm and at 7:30pm we caught a 4 lb sockeye at 85 ft in 120 ft of water, south of Seward park. A blue hook fooled her. This morning we were up and gear in the water by 6am. Caught our first fish within 10 minutes, a nice 5 lb buck at 50 ft on the rigger, dual hot pink hooks, water depth 110 ft. Things went quiet until the 8am bite came along. Caught another two hens on dual pink hooks at 85 ft deep. The last fish hit as I dropped the rigger down five ft after seeing fish on the fish finder. Kinda cool. This fish was at 9am and after that things went dead. Called it a morning at 10:30am and was picked up by my private shuttle service, my better half. The fish are colored but the flesh is that great deep red sockeye color. Going out again tomorrow. Only negative note was my main motor wouldn't start. Battery is charged, everything else works. Checked the connections. Somethings up, the starter motor wouldn't even turn over. Was working just fine when I put it in storage last fall...
