Black River in Thurston County?

Post by justin.garner2 » Fri Apr 23, 2010 8:56 pm

Okay, so I'm guessing tomorrow (April 24th) is the opening of "fishing season". I've never heard that term before, in Kansas we fish whenever we want, where we want, but that's neither here nor there. Anyhow, I was looking at the WDFW site, searching for a nice lake to go to tomorrow in celebration when I found 2 access points on the Black River. I immediately came over to WashingtonLakes.com to check the reports on the river and lo and behold it doesn't exist on this site. I'm just wanting to know if I can fish there.

On a side note, can I fish any of the rivers in the Thurston County area? I tried fishing the Nisqually a month or so back and was told by this old (drunk) gentleman that I'd get in trouble if I got caught fishing there. I then talked to a group of (drunk) gentlemen who said it was closed until June. I then called the WDFW local office asking if I could fish any of the area rivers and the very nice lady could not give me an answer. She said she simply didn't know if I could or not.

The reason I ask here is in hopes that somebody here works for the WDFW as on another forum I am a member of (catfish1.com) is littered with KDWF employees. I hope I can get an answer. Thanks for your time and sorry that this is so wordy.

The lakes are open but most of the rivers aren't.

He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.
