Should be great for lake or river cutthroat.

Hook: Mustad #94844 or #94833 Sizes: 10-12

Thread: Orange, 6/0

Tail: Lemon Wood Duck

Body: Orange Floss (or orange dubbing)

Wing: Lemon Wood Duck, upright and divided

Rib: Brown, tied palmered

Hackle: Brown.

Method: Catskill

1. Tie in a good thread base.

2. Tie in the Lemon Wood fibers for the tail.

3. Tie in both the Brown Hackle for the rib and the Orange Floss for the body at the same time. The reason will become obvious, shortly.

4. Now, wrap the Orange Floss body and tie it off. If you desire to lacquer the body, this is probably the appropriate time to do so. Let it dry before proceeding.

5. Tie in the Lemon Wood Duck wings, upright and divided.

6. Wrap the Brown Hackle Rib (4 or 5 turns). Tie off the rib. By tying it in earlier, you are now able to wrap the rib without backing the thread down the body. It makes for a much cleaner looking tie.

7. Tie in the Brown Hackle.

8. Wrap the hackle in the normal manner. Tie off, whip finish the head and add your head cement.

Where you go is less important than how you get there.
