...HEAVY SNOW FOLLOWED BY WIND AND BITTER COLD THIS WEEKEND FOR
EASTERN WASHINGTON AND NORTH IDAHO...

A STRONG WINTER STORM IS SET TO DROP INTO THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST
FRIDAY AND SATURDAY BRINGING THE POTENTIAL FOR SOME OF THE
SNOWIEST AND COLDEST WEATHER OF THE WINTER THUS FAR.

SNOW WILL DEVELOP FROM THE CANADIAN BORDER SOUTHWARD DURING THE
MORNING HOURS FRIDAY. A BAND OF HEAVY SNOW WILL BE POSSIBLE LATE
FRIDAY INTO SATURDAY WITH THE FIRST PHASE OF THIS WINTER STORM.
THERE IS STILL SOME UNCERTAINTY ON WHERE THE BAND OF HEAVIEST SNOW
WILL OCCUR...BUT THERE IS A STRONG POTENTIAL THAT THE MOUNTAINS
OF THE NORTHERN IDAHO PANHANDLE...THE MOUNTAINS OF NORTHEAST
WASHINGTON...AND ALONG THE CREST OF THE CASCADES COULD ACCUMULATE
18 TO 30 INCHES OF SNOW BETWEEN FRIDAY AND SATURDAY.
ADDITIONALLY...DEPENDING ON WHERE THE BAND OF HEAVIEST SNOW SETS
UP...THE POTENTIAL EXISTS FOR HEAVY SNOWFALL ACCUMULATION IN THE
VALLEYS OF EASTERN WASHINGTON AND NORTH IDAHO INCLUDING
SPOKANE...COEUR D`ALENE...SANDPOINT...COLVILLE...AND REPUBLIC.
UNDER THE HEAVY HEAVY BAND OF SNOW...THERE IS THE POTENTIAL FOR A
FOOT OF SNOW IN THE VALLEYS. SNOWFALL RATES COULD APPROACH 1 TO 2
INCHES PER HOUR UNDER THE BAND...AND TRAVEL IS LIKELY TO BECOME
DANGEROUS OR IMPOSSIBLE.

THE SECOND PHASE OF THIS STORM WILL BE THE POTENTIAL FOR STRONG
NORTHEAST WINDS SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY. THE ARRIVAL OF A
STRONG ARCTIC COLD FRONT WILL HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO CAUSE BLOWING
AND DRIFTING SNOW...ESPECIALLY IN THE VALLEYS OF NORTHERN IDAHO
AND NORTHEAST WASHINGTON. TRAVEL ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY COULD
BECOME DANGEROUS...AND WIND CHILL VALUES COULD BE 10 TO 20 DEGREES
BELOW ZERO.

THE THIRD PHASE OF THIS STORM WILL BE THE ARRIVAL OF A VERY COLD
ARCTIC AIRMASS. COMPUTER MODELS SUGGEST THAT TEMPERATURES EARLY
NEXT WEEK COULD BE THE COLDEST THE INLAND NORTHWEST HAS EXPERIENCED
SINCE JANUARY 2004. LOW TEMPERATURES ON MONDAY...TUESDAY...AND
WEDNESDAY COULD BE WELL BELOW ZERO IN NORTHEAST WASHINGTON AND IN
NORTH IDAHO.

You can come to Auburn if it gets to bad... all we get is wind and rain, then every third year we get a snow flake or two. It just blows right over us.

AND, whatever you do... DONOT light up a BBQ or other device intended for outside use in the house, and I'm directing that at everybody!

I really hate hearing about the carbon monoxide deaths each year....

To Funny, KZOK was talking about the Storm Advisory turning to Storm Warning. The amount of drama the meteorologists are spinning is a joke. I lived in Denver and SE Kansas where you can get a full inch of pack ice under the snow and huge snow drifts.

This weather in washington is nothing compared to other states, our only issue on the west side is the hills which we didnt have so much in Denver and Kansas.

I'm hoping for some snow here. My son is now at the age where we can make snowmen
and throw snowballs at little kids to boost my self esteem:-"

We hardly got anything here, a light dusting. The worst thing the "Storm" did to me was freeze up the lock on the shed door.

We got an inch maybe two on the cars trees and roof tops but only an inch if that on the roads... But I'm basically stuck as the road out of my house is a sheet of ice and another road in Lynnwood is a skating rink (and I drove it - no fun trying to brake) ... bad news for me is I made it to work :( Which is kind of hard not to do when you work from home.

the best cure for this cold weather is several 5 gal buckets, one to sit on one to hold the fishing gear and a heater. OH! and a( lip full of maggie's as cold as it may get). or just sit and tie flies.
