Where do you buy your bass fishing equipment?
Hey Now!
I live in Thurston County and am wondering what your favorite place is to shop bass equipment.
Most places seem to have lots of steelhead/trout etc stuff but very little when it comes to anything strictly for bass. I really need a new rod/reel and all the trimmings. Crankbaits/Plastics etc etc. I managed to get a 12 foot aluminum Klamath boat last fall and just got all the registration/tag stuff out of the way and i am getting antsy about getting it in the water. Yes i KNOW i should have done it by now but my 2 daughters have kept me busy every weekend since spring.
I grew up in Georgia and moved to Olympia in 1990 and have not done much fishing since i got here.
As a kid i would go literally everyday in the summertime and stay till dark, and i feel that old urge coming back. I turned 42 last week and i think my life has slowed back down enough that i need to reconnect with that part of my soul.....If ya know what i mean.
Thanks for any tips you might have..
If you ever get by RainyDay Records be sure to say "hey" to me. Im there about 4 days a week. Maybe we can go fishin together!......I DO have a boat!

RE:Where do you buy your bass fishing equipment?
one simple answer: www.basspro.com. Bass Pro Shops my friend. They have pretty much every single bass fishing item one could want, and their house brand items are absolute top of the notch. As a matter of fact they have a Bass Pro Shops XPS Extreme baitcasting combo on sale right now for $100, and i can tell you firsthand that it is the best value you will find for a combo period. Normally this is a $100 rod and an $80 reel.

RE:Where do you buy your bass fishing equipment?
of course BPS is good, but i'm really starting to like tacklewarehouse. my little bass heaven is angler's choice. the owners are bass only fisher people so they carry a great supply of bass tackle. i like them because they have a lot of the little local companies like KGM.

I have looked around at tackle warehouse before. I just clicked it and their front page is Shimano Citica's. If you are looking for one, get it from Delo's custom tackle shack. $100 Citica's baby, free shipping. Just a small personal recommendation. I bought one and like it so far, sucks they don't make the Green Curado SF's anymore. www.deloscustomtackleshack.com
Shameless plug sorry.
I buy alot of stuff locally. GI Joes, Sportsman Warehouse, Auburn Sports and Marine, more Sportco recently, don't care for OE but heard they are stocking more bass gear. Haven't made a BPS order in a few months, very surprising for me LOL.

RE:Where do you buy your bass fishing equipment?
There is a Sportsmens' Warehouse in the Hawks' Prarie area just down the road from the Hawks prarie casino. Also, you will likely have all the bass gear you could hope for later this year. According to Cabela's website, they are opening a flagship store in Lacey that should be open late fall or winter 2007.Jperdue4 wrote:Hey Now!

I was in there the other day, and they are starting to carry more bass gear. They also now give you a 5% discount if you are a Sportco member.ChrisB wrote:...don't care for OE but heard they are stocking more bass gear. Haven't made a BPS order in a few months, very surprising for me LOL.
RE:Where do you buy your bass fishing equipment?
Yup thats what they told me at Sportco. Sportco and Outdoor Emporium are both conjoined now, so you get the 5%.

RE:Where do you buy your bass fishing equipment?
If I'm not ordering online, I go to either Grumpy's (in Yakima) or hit up bi mart. Otherwise, it's Cabelas online or BPS online. The only bad thing about ordering tackle online, is that it is so much easier to browse items, and much more laid back... I usually end up spending far more than if I had gone to a local store, haha. Oh well, it's my hobby and the rent and electrical can be paid another day. If they shut the power down on me, I've always got a flashlight (j/k).

CABELAS.COM and BASSPRO.COM are my favorites, but if I get something in town I go to either sportsman warehouse or sportco.

Three rivers marine!!!!!!!! has it all but probably a far drive. Like others said, GI joes, outdoor emporium and sportsmans wherehouse are good for stores and BPS and cabelas online.
RE:Where do you buy your bass fishing equipment?
i will never order from bassproshops online ever again. i was one of the unfortunate ones the got screwed over pretty good by them. although i did make a bunch of succesful purchases through them.

Bass pro shops all the way!, it is the only way to get all of the good quality lures that so many of washington's tackle stores don't carry. But gi joes, Anglers choice, and Hook Line And Sinker do carry a good variety.

RE:Where do you buy your bass fishing equipment?
I'm a big fan of Sportman's Warehouse for a lot of things, but their bass stuff is about 10% higher than Joe's. If you need something in a pinch and can't wait for delivery, my money goes to Joe's.
Like it's been said, BPS is ALWAYS a staple source for bass tackle. I'm gonna check out tacklewarehouse.
I hate to say it...but...Wal-Mart sometimes has .99 cent crankbait specials...sometimes I said. I wouldn't go there FOR the gear, just browse it while you're there getting your 12 pr. of socks for $7.88 (not $8.00)
