RED TREBLE HOOKS vs STANDARD TREBLE HOOKS

Post by BassFanatic » Thu Sep 18, 2008 1:22 pm

Just wanted to know everyones input on switching out the regular treble hooks and replacing them with red ones. To me I have noticed that I have hooked bigger fish using red trebles then I have using the standard ones. Are the fish more attracted to red ones??? Any info would be great.

Alot of members will say 2 just swap the front treble out BF,..but as you well know I have swapped most of my Jointed Raps,..Deep Diving Cranks and Swimmies 2 red,..for me it's more a confidence thing,..plus it looks more like a "Custom-Bait",..LOL,..and you know I've been doing well with them! Some say it gives more of an appearance of a wounded baitfish and they say swap the front so it looks like the gills are bleeding,..not sure it makes a difference but I like it,..just make sure 2 use quality hooks!

I change most of my trebles to red single hooks and it does seem like I catch more fish with the red hooks.

I use black nickel. I dont think red does anything besides kill my own confidence, thats just me though

I replace all of my trebles with Mustad Triple Grips. I put a red one on the front and black nickel on the back.

I replace the front trebles on my size 11 floating Rapalas with a stronger red hook. Rapala hooks are sharp but I have had them bend under the weight of a heavy bass. Big bass will generally hit the front hook.
A nice bass is too valuable a resource to enjoy catching only once.
