Hey guys,
First question: what would be a good heavy rod for use with heavier jigs/swimbaits?
Second Question: Where are good places to fish (mainly lakes) in the Cowlitz County area? I am limited to shore fishing but want to take a trip to Silver in Toutle and rent a boat (with a few of my LCC teammates).

I don't have any yet, but the jigs I'm throwing make it difficult for me to feel the bite (medium)

It can be difficult to feel the bite on jigs. The bass sometimes just inhale the entire jig and all you will feel is some weight on the end of your line, not a huge strike.

If you are looking for a deal on a SB rod, you should check http://www.monsterfishingtackle.com They have a Quantam SB rod @ $99. Heavy rod, 1-5oz weight, x-fast tip (Which should help detect your jig hits).

Look on tacklewarehouse.com, good selection and the best customer service.
Okuma Big Bait Special rods are the best for your buck for sure. Matt Newman Fig Rig rods are supposed to be good also.
It all depends on what you intend to throw. If your goin to throw 8" + swimmies, a swimbait rod for that prob wont be good for jigs, esp with the reel you might be using for swimmies. If you go MedHvy swim rod, you should be able to use for both applications.
