Any Cheap But Quality 3/4PC 3WT's for under $75.00?

Post by kutthroatkilla » Sun May 11, 2008 6:03 pm

Does anyone know where a good place to pickup a 3 or 4 piece 3-WT fly rod for under $75.00? I have my 5WT right now and love it, but want to take it down a few notches and really have some fun with these 12-15" bows. Any suggestions would be most helpful. Thanks...KTK

Check out the Wal Mart. They have the scientific angler set ups.It comes with all the fixins.Rod,reel, backing, line, and the leader.I think it cost around 75-80 bucks.I bought the 5-6 weight for my first set-up a couple of years ago.I have since upgraded after I relized I like fly fishing.I gave my old one to a friend of mine and he still uses it today.

I almost hate to say it, but ebay might have some. I know, it can be real unreliable, but I got a 3/4 wt Cahill Crystal River (or something like that) for pretty cheap and its working fine for me. I don't know if this brand is just that cheap everywhere, or if it was a good deal, but I'd like to think I got a bargin. :-k

For a while a few months ago, Walmart was clearing out their Scientific Angler stock. They had a bunch of them in the clearance bins for 10 bucks or less a piece.

They're probably all cleaned out by now.

Ebay is a great start. I'll look there. That's where I got my current rod...paid too much, but it's freakin amazing. Thanks fellas. KTK

Was at Sportsman Warehouse in Oly yesterday and they had a beautifull 3wt, 7 footer for $37 good price for a graphite. Not sure if it was a 4 piece or not.
