Yo-zuri hardcore crankbaits

Post by HillbillyGeek » Thu Mar 20, 2008 6:52 pm

Has anyone tried these? I bought one yesterday at Joe's because it was on clearance. I normally don't pay more than 5 bucks for a crankbait. Retail price was $14 but I got it for $8.

The main selling point is a patented magnetic weight transfer system.

From the box: "This internal mechanism dramatically improves casting distance and accuracy by shifting its tungsten weights to the tail of the lure during the cast. During the retrieve weights shift and lock into the middle of the lure, giving the bait a perfectly balanced unique side-to-side wobble."

I hope this isn't just marketing hype. I've had good luck on smallmouth bass with slim crankbaits like the wally diver but they don't cast worth a crap. And I was using a spinning rod with 8lb mono! Maybe this fancy new crankbait will help... :-k

I have a couple and they are worth the clearance price, which is how I got mine. However, they make a real awesome wake bait in a matte black finish that is creepy cool for night fishing or summer sunsets that I would definitely pay full price to keep stocked in my tackle box.

Good pick up HillbillyGeek. I've never thrown a Yo-Zuri crank before but that bait looks good. And it dives to 8ft. Should do well for you real soon. Let us know when you start tossing it around.
