First off I'm very sorry to hear about your sister in law. God Bless. I was down at Hood River this past weekend and pretty much got blown off on Saturday (20-25 winds w/45 gusts). Picked up a few fish Sunday morning. Oregon is the host state for the TBF Divisionals in that pool the following Wednesday your their out of Hood River, so there may be a few boats pre-fishing that area that weekend. The wind will probably be the biggest factor. Check out windguru.com on the predicted and generally current wind conditions. That may narrow down where you navigate to. I believe fishing will be good.
