RE:swim bait
I haven't fished SB's very long but have been having the best luck with the Spro swimbaits and the River2Sea swimbaits. I suggest getting a few different swimbaits that swim at different depths and just fish em!
RE:swim bait
Another great topic. Swimbaits are still a new area for me. There are some excellent looking
swims out there but havn't made any expensive purchases as of yet. I'm little nervous about dropping
a large chunk of cash, then to lose the lure. Some of these baits look they should sitting above the fireplace
mantle. I did catch a lmb on a Dunwright Life-Like Pike last year....I certainly want to get into
more SB.

RE:swim bait
My favorite is the Spro BBZ 1- 6 inch, its a big trout imitation. Comes in floating, slow sink and fast sinking, 2, 2 1/4, and 2 1/2 oz.
Obviously you need a rod dedicated for theses type of baits do to the size and weights. They are a blast and catch alot of big fish.
This particular bait runs about 25$, but well worth the investment.

Cast first, worry later.

RE:swim bait
The best buy for your $$ if you're just starting 2 try Simmies is definately Tru~Tungsten~Tru~Life Swimbaits,..IMHO,..you can fish them at different depths depending on how many balls you add in the chamber,..from floating to fast sinking you can't go wrong for the $$ you'll spend,..also as SpinDog said you'll have 2 have the correct gear 2 cast these heavier baits,..if not stay with the smaller 4" Swimmies like the Spro BBZ 4",..just figure out how you want 2 fish them and get the correct R.O.F you can chuck the 4" SB'S with most regular Cranking Rods. Thanks, no I didn't know those letters. I hate the use of letters, as much as I hate typing and have to type one fingered, I still type out the whole word with very few exceptions. None of that telephone texting crap for me. Yes I do know what 'rate of fall' is tho. :-)

RE:swim bait
see with me i dont have 2 rods i usually just take a lure off put another on on the same rod but why would i need a different rod for a swim bait?

RE:swim bait
Heavier lure/weight, needs more backbone/heavier duty rod. Or the rod will be too whippy to cast that heavy weight effecently. Then there is the fact that the hook on the bigger baits have a bigger shaft/wire diameter, and so needs a heavier rod to drive the bigger point into the fish.
