What the Pros say.

Post by Trent Hale » Fri Feb 26, 2010 6:08 pm

There saying that this weekend, to get on the water all day Sat and Sun. Don't think any of those guys live up here in the NW. I'll give it a try any ways. How about some of you die hard bassers. I'll be out at Long Lk in Kitsap.
Are you hung up again!

Oh Ya! They've been there for awhile now! I'm gonna be working docks, I've got a milk run of favorite docks on my favorite lake that I consistantly pull fish from. These fish use these same areas every year, ought to be a killer weekend!-Largemouth, sorry I dont want to give details about where, this particular lake can not stand up to the fishing pressure this site could generate. I'll post up pics later.

i will be out all day tomorrow testing out the new trolling motor for the project boat. im thinking soft plastics will be the key, skipping ocks for the early pre spawn fish. same here spindog, i got a handfull of spots that fish go to early every year.

Anthony...

Are you gonna tease us with all the reports from your secret lake like you did last year? Looking forward to that when it comes.:bounce:

All time skunk'? Meaning you've never caught a bass, or a largemouth on Sawyer? That's a real good fish to "get the skunk off".

I was thinking of going today but I'm gonna wait until I get the new water pump on the motor.

I took my father in laws little 12ft sea nymph today. Only a 9.9merc to get me around, but with the speed limit I figured it doesn't matter. I still need to replace gaskets on the 5.0 before i can take the lund out too.

and yup, that's my first Sawyer bass of any type. I've caught a bullhead and some trout there, but that's the first Sawyer bass for me!

caught him in like 6ft of water too... dropshot/senko

Ya, that lake can skunk anyone. I haven't been on it yet this year. Thought about going today, but I've run the big motor too much as it is with the water pump not being in the best shape. Ya, I've been known to run just the electric, but with a bad battery that only works for awhile if I do any 'up the lake, back down the lake' traveling. Watching the gold medal hockey game just now.

I am going to spend more time on Sawyer I think. Its so darn close compared to Washington and Sammamish that I can load the boat up, leave my house, and be in the water within about 20 minutes so... I need to learn that lake!

oh yeah, I didn't mention, I also picked up a nice trout on sawyer today while throwing a deep diving rapala I had. Usually I'd smoke the trout, release the bass, but today I released 'em both. The trout was so healthy looking I didn't have the heart to keep him. and he fought good!

I can hit Sawyer or Sammamish in 20 minutes each. I bought a parking pass for Sammamish this year so I'm going to be spending more time there this spring and summer. Starting mid March depending on weather. If there isn't a water pump at the store I just might go to Sawyer tomorrow anyway, otherwise I might fish, or I might install the pump. Or just install the pump when it rains mid to late week. So the engine is ready/done by next weekend.

that did feel good ;) I caught that on a new dropshot rod and reel combo my folks picked me up for Christmas. It had the rod bent over real nice and made a last ditch run under the boat on me. I was running real light gear too, 5lb line, etc. Was a good fish :)
