A Personal Best on Merwin

Post by Don Wittenberger » Wed Jul 25, 2007 11:29 pm

Tony Welch of Portland, who has written articles for Musky Hunter Magazine, caught the biggest fish of his life at Merwin Lake Sunday afternoon -- 47" x 20.5", approx. weight 26.5 lbs. (Fish was released.) I was the net man for this fish. Tony's previous personal best was a 44-incher he caught on a guided fishing trip in Wisconsin many years ago. Tony has been fishing for over 60 years, so this was quite an exciting event for him.

Tony,

Way to go!!!! That is a great fish anywhere. That is a "fantastic" fish to catch here in the state of Washington. Thanks for releasing it!!!! Maybe we will see a 50 incher one of these days.
Good job with the net also Don.
I finally figured out why there fish are striped. I believe now it is because they are excellent "escape" artists!!!
Congrats!!
