What part of the Peninsula are you going to? Do you just need a basic cabin with no frills. ( couple of dudes fishing..?) Or are you bringing the ladies?

Anywhere really. Whatever is best in early December. I've fished the Bogie and Hoh in summer but this is my first Fall trip. 4-5 guys. No frills is fine.

check out 3 rivers resort near Forks. http://www.northolympic.com/threerivers/about.html

Look up Forks on a map, and see where it is in relation to where you want to be. It's cheap... it's got a little breaksfast/diner, etc. country bumpkin' store etc. I have stayed there myself.

Do you think neoprene waders are a must on the OlyPen rivers in winter? or can you get away with layering and breathables?

Breathable waders are fine as long as you layer up a bit. I've got an old pair of neos that only come out when it gets down in the teens and I'm going to sit in the front of an aluminum driftboat that doesn't have a heater.
There are also motels in Forks. None are fancy but are clean. Most of them are probably booked solid from T-day thru New Years. Food in town is ok but if you eat at the Mexican joint be prepared for an interesting time the next day.

Mirodini,

Yeah, the Kalaloch lodge is a great place for sure. I would stay in one of their cabin before a room in the lodge. It's def. more $ than 3 rivers resort cabins. But you've got a shweet wood burning stove, and it's def. a swankier experience.
Not sure of the distance to fishable rivers though,, something to check first.
Let us know what happens.
