BIG FISH, BIG FISH


Is still in Silver Lake.

Well we caught a couple 2 pounders and a few smaller. Spinnerbaits, flipping jigs, and flipping Senkos.

Can't tell you where, it's a secret.

Can't wait to get out there in a week,I'm just hoping the weather will be decent,regardless
of rain,shine or hurricane...were going to have a great time. 10lbs or 10 ounces,just glad
to make a great family bassing adventure.

It was slow and the presentations needed to be slow. Even my spinnerbait fishies were caught on a slow retrieve.

Ain't got no GPS cords. Didn't take any. lol

Thats perfect!!! The game plan is to boat all day but in the late evening,the wife and I can have some
ice cold beers and fish with our son on the dock.
I appreciate all the information folks. Its been to long since I've been down here...way to long.

Misselley caught hundreds there at the dock over our 5 days down there. Its perfect for cold beers and fishin with the lil ones!

Were these bass,perch or a mixed bag? No biggie...just curious as to what I can get Brett over
when we aren't in the boat. Maybe a hawg from the dock too.

Misselley was using a small olive crappie jig with a bit of worm and was catching mostly crappie, perch, blue gill and the occasional little lm.

I didnt have the success she did with the jigs, I used small spinner baits, size 2,and caught mostly little lm bass.

Thast awesome. I'll be bringing a ton of gear,from bass to my beloved Roadrunner jigs
for the crappie. Even the good 'ole worm/bobber,which my son has used to school my arse.
(I mean skool my bass) I'll even be taking some musky gear,in the hope of hitting Mayfield on
the return.

I'll be staying at the resort,though I have fished off there dock many years ago,my memory
has lasped. Is there a BBQ area or do I need to bring my own grill?

REMEMBER THAT PATTERNS AND PRESENTATIONS "CHANGE ALL THE TIME" !!!! I NORMALLY DO VERY WELL AT THIS LAKE AND YESTERDAY WAS TOUGH AND WE GRINDED IT OUT AND EARNED A COMBINED LIMIT OF 5 . WE KEPT CHANGING BAITS AND PRESENTATIONS AND SORTA STARTED TO DAIL IT IN .ENDED UP WITH A VERY SLOW PRESENTATION FLIPPIN JIGS AND SENKOS . THE PATTERN WAS WINDY POINTS WITH THIN RED BRUSH! BOTH OF US MISSED ALOT OF FISH BECAUSE OF SHORT STRIKES. SOMETIMES YOU GOTTA PUT THE TIME IN FOR THE FISH.IVE FISHED THIS LAKE A MONTH BEFORE AND CAUGHT 20 BASS IN 1 HOUR ON CRANKBAITS AND THEN NOTHING THE REST OF THE DAY. THERE IS A BBQ AREA BY THE WATER ITS FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BUT YOU SOULDNT HAVE A PROBLEM BECAUSE ITS LATE IN THE SEASON.

No worries there. Thats why I'm bringing everything under the sun and when that fails,I'll grab some old
sweaty dynamite. I believe its refered as DuPont Wigglers.

Silver gets good as they are starting to come into the fall patterns. Crank shallow early, I like to really slam the crank into rocks then pause. If you work the docks on waldon island you will pick up some fish there. When I get home I will post Rogers fall map. If you can run and gun with a big motor hemlock creek can produce good in the am, also the west pilings.

With water temps dropping,I'm wondering if I should even bother with topwaters but then again
I hit a crossroads with thinking that since the lake is so shallow...does it really matter right now.
(this is where my nose starts bleeding from over thinking )

Might give it a go for crappie at Silver Lake tomorrow, I'm sick of fishing for salmon lol. I wonder if it's still too early for the crappie in Streeter's Canal though or if we'd have to sit there searching for them trolling the weedlines.

Nah we didn't get the chance to get out there because like always the weather channel was wrong saying it was going to be raining and thundering. When we woke up it was drizzling some so we decided not to go but then it ended up clearing up here in Bremerton during the morning and afternoon until later in the evening, oh well we'll probably try it next Tuesday or whenever my dad has work off. I found some tips though and there's a map that shows some good spots for fishing on crappie.com. The stuff I bookmarked is on my laptop and it isn't working now, stupid power source keeps messing up. But just look through them, there's an ex guide from Silver Lake that made some posts through the last few years about it and he said during the fall in one of them to target trolling the weedlines until you find a school or try the docks on the south end of Walden Island I believe. Also I'd say try the Streeter's Canal in the northeast corner of the lake (the graveyard) or the pilings by the resort for the crappie. If you're able to try and find some brush area in the open water try those areas. I'd shoot up to Streeter's Canal first to find crappie, it'll be the easiest place to catch them if they're in there, if not then try the other areas.

The family and I are getting pumped for this,I think were just happy to be getting out on the
water...the fishing is a much added bonus. This is primarily a family/bass trip but I think one of the
days will be dedicated to a Mt.St.Helens trip,this would be my son's first trip there.

We had a great and memorable trip. Fishing was excellent....no real hawgs but caught
plenty of fish and the crappie bite was on fire,couldn't keep those guys off the line.
The bass bite was great too,I'm not sure if they are in the fall feeding frenzy yet but
they are certainly biting. They really seem to enjoy a mixture of things....spinnerbaits,cranks
and even a few smaller ones on jigs.
Thanks again folks.....we'll be back here again,hopefully sooner rather then later.
