Favorite far away lake
Since the close to home lake was brought up...what's your favorite far away lake? Anywhere you have bass fished, say more than 2 hours away. Mine would be Lake Guntersville in Alabama. It's so big it's mind boggling, there are fish in so many places, and to me...the South is just bass fishing heaven.

RE:Favorite far away lake
My favorite lake is actually a reservoir on the Snake. It is Hells Canyon. I also like Brownlee just above. My personal best sm was from Hells canyon. It was like the ones Tag has been posting. I took it to the F&G and they said it was less then a lb. off the Oregon record at the time if I remember right it was around 22-23" I know it was bigger then the 20" one I caught the year before. It has been 11 yrs and I wasn't always clear headed back then I had my picture taken at The store just up from Oxbow it used to hang there yrs ago but I don't know if the store is even still there. I will be hitting it regular when I get in a position to visit the NW:cheers:

Diamond Valley Lake in SoCal.
Probably would be El Salto or Huites if I can ever get the chance to get down there and fish.

This is a little stretch on the bass fishing and far away lake theme but I think I’ve got the distance award locked up.
Fishing for sea bass or anything else that would bite in the lagoon at a little place called Diego Garcia in the middle of the
Indian Ocean.

Bragging may not bring happiness, but no man having caught a large fish goes home through an alley.

Hhmmmnn? Good question, plenty come to mind. Couer D'Alene comes to mind...
although I was targeting pike, caught some decent lmb in between,Silver Lake in Spokane
County is another fave, was fishing for tigers but would switch it up for bass. Seems to be a very
healthy bass lake and gorgeous too. I can think of a few others but..... Not sure if I have an all time
favorite bass lake, as of yet anyway. I suppose more trips to other locations would help to expand
my narrow view

Lake Champlain, Vermont and this other little lake we fished there. When we went to visit family there one time we ended up catching 2 largemouth that were in the 8lbs range and my cousin lost another that was around the same size and ended up hooking my sister in the arm instead. Also it was good at Champlain because of the variety of fish you could catch there.
RE:Favorite far away lake
Lake Roosevelt, Arizona. I haven't been there in years but I'm looking forward to going back someday.

Lake Erie (Western Basin, Niagara Reef) for Walleye and (Western Basin, (Pelee Island) for giant Smallmouth! Although it can be absolutely brutal when the wind decides to kick up or a storm comes blowing across, especially in a bass boat!
Lake Comedero, MX although the armed escorts into the fishing lodge was a little intimidating...i'm not joking, but I've fished El Salto a few times and in my opinion the fishing is better for quality at Comedero, although the accomodations at El Salto Anglers Inn is pretty tough to beat! I think Champlain would have to be on my "bucket list" of places I'd love to fish back East though!
