ChrisB wrote:Dude, they look amazing. I was expecting a little bigger profile, but they are perfect. I have not got them wet yet. When I do, I'll be sure to let you know. I ordered on 1-7-08, so expect 3 weeks for delivery.
Have you had a chance to run the 6in. Hudds yet ChrisB? I'm starting to hear bad things about how they run. You know of the website to check out for all the details. SBN.com
Hope you got a good batch and this isn't common place for the new Hudds. Anyone else tossed them around? How true do they run?

I bought the Juvenille and the Holdover trout. Its almost hard to tell them apart color wise, I think the holdover is a little darker on the upper back. Got a chance to get them wet today. I was throwing the ROF 12 and it swam very straight. Had a decent tail kick too. Tryed to reel it FAST and it did not hurt the action, straight and true. Also, If you are looking to fish anything deeper than 5 feet, buy the rate of fall 12. You have to reel it really slow to keep it at 10 feet or so.
Only tryed one so far, but made 2 orders a month apart. I'll check on the others as soon as I can. I can't wait for it to warm up, water temp over 50 and I think it will be on. I hope there is not a bad batch floating around, these baits are top notch.

Thanks ChrisB for easing the mind.

Here is a very detailed article written by Josh St.John of The Wired Angler. A nice guy and always willing to devolge what he knows. This is great information for those throwing paddletail swimbaits.

10 Ways to Rig a Basstrix Style Swimbait

I really like the predator and prey rig. Very creative.

Hope you all enjoy!

Almost forgot, found a heck of a link yesterday.

Video of testing out lures, I think I watched them all yesterday. Enjoy.

Well, I guess since Bigbass Dez is bumping up one of his old posts, I would do the same with one of mine. :-"

No really, I just read a great swimbait article written by Craig Gottwalls. Check this out - http://www.swimbaitnation.com/swimbaitarticles.html

Or don't, it's not like I'm trying to help educate you guys on how to catch bigger fish or anything. There is also great stuff above this post in this thread as well, so take a look.

Happy Hawg Hunting Bassheads.

Weedless Huddleston

So what happens to be the verdict on this bait? Anyone throwing it?

I haven't purchased one yet because I wanted to see some reports and info on this bait before burning some money on a couple. Guys down in Cali love them but still will throw the OG Hudd unless in heavy vegation.

So, in the Northwest has anyone tagged a bass on this bait? Sized line using? How's the action and feel?
Worth it or just stick with the 3:16 Mission Fish.

I know, I know, tons of questions.

Thanks for the help.

fishn,

I have fished this lure a couple times this season and have caught a few fish on it up to a little over 6 pounds. I am throwing it on a 7'9" Lamiglas swimbait rod and a 301 Curado, spooled with 20# P-Line 100% Soft fluoro. I have found the hook-up ratio to be excellent; much better than I expected. I would be throwing it much more often but I get very little time on the water. Give it a shot!

I got one about 6 lbs last year, but I was using the non-weedless version of the 6 inch. I of course have a few of the weedless but I haven't thrown them recently. I love the way the ROF 12 non weedless sinks head down with the tail kicking, but the weedless style just seems to have a different action. The ROF 5 sinks horizontally wobbling back and forth. I'd give them a try, what took you so long ?

ive hooked up a couple of times but farmed them all - defintiely gets bit tho and comes through pretty clean. All the weeds that do get stuck tend to on the line tie/knot. It also skips like a dream.
I hate the mission fish personally (no confidence in it or the hook position) and I'll probably use this over that in most situations now.

Doubt.
Wanted to hear about the hook up ratios and action before making a commitment. Plus the utility of it. I'd rather stick with the 6" if it really doesn't make a difference.
