Any pointers for Lake Devereaux?

Post by kevinb » Tue Jul 14, 2009 11:00 am

I'll be staying at Belfair State Park in mid-August with the family and extended family.
Looking at some pointers/tips for this lake. I havn't fished here before,so its all new to me.
Looking for most productive lures/colors.....and maybe location:-" I'd be happy to catch a hawg
but 'em more interested in the numbers game, with my boy and tons of nieces and nephews
that are excited about fishing,I'm looking to keep these guys interested.
Any info is appreciated.

Hi Kevin, I have fished Lake Devereaux several times and have caught several nice sized bass -- but very few small ones. I never seem to catch very many fish but what I do catch are nice ones. There is also perch and sunfish in the lake but I have never spent much effort into catching them. Trout anglers do well early in the year. Something to remember is NO OUTBOARD MOTORS ARE ALLOWED ON THE LAKE. I have a featured lake article with photos on page 4 of the featured lakes section that may help a little. Good luck. BJ
A nice bass is too valuable a resource to enjoy catching only once.

Just like Bob said there's perch in there including the bass and trout. I only went there once for bass and got skunked. I talked to a man when I was at Kitsap Lake fishing about 2 or 3 weeks ago and he said he was at Devereaux earlier that day and caught quite a few perch there while fishing for trout.

The kids will have a blast with perch, maybe while they are doing that,I'll go for bass:-$
No outboards is an added bonus on this trip...I'm still on the market for a bass boat, the current boat
does not care for wakes.

Thanks for the information.:salut:

You might also want to check out square lake too, they have some bass in there and you can keep the kids occupied with the bluegill, crappie, and small bass. I know there's plenty of lakes within a 10 mile vicinity there too so you might want to check out something if Devereaux isn't getting you anything.

Also, Lake Benson isn't that far from belfair as well. There are a lot of good lakes in the mason county area.

Thank you guys again,we just got back and had a blast.
Hit Devereaux,Maggie,Jiggs...a bunch of others that I can't recall at the moment.
By the way...anyone fish those little lakes in the state forest? We did very well there too.
I'll post pics very soon, thanks again.
P.S. All the kids caught fish.....so it ended up being a better time for them:cheers:

Thanks BB, I give it a look. I will more than likely be making a bass boat purchase
this fall and winter but if something should pop up,well I'm game.

Thanks Trent,I'm hoping to make another trip here before it closes for the season.
The lake looked in need of a bit of water, not bad, just appeared to have a higher water mark.
I was seeing tons of little bass (between 1-4inches) along the shoreline.Looks like a healthy bass hatch.
I texted fishnislife to join me but he never made it....so kick him for me:eye: :clown:
Maybe we can meet up here before the season is over.
