As for the biggens keep at it, I caught an 8.2 this year and lost 1 that big and 1 9+ so I know what it's like to lose those guys, mine seem to come off I have not had one break my line in years. just keep at it and you will land one of those pigs, and we will be here waiting to see it happen.

yeah in the past 5 years i have had two break offs. one at silver lake under 9 pound dock and one at this lake. funny thing is the one that broke my line was the smaller one. the bigger one shook the hook in the weeds, i was also fishing barbless because these fish always inhale the bait so deep.lemagoat wrote:Yes keep posting, I think I can speak for most of us on here that we enjoy your posts. got some more free time today so i made it back out at 12:40 or so. coolest thing i have ever seen. the dragon fly nymphs were turning into dragonflys and sitting on top of the water flapping there wings until they are ready to fly. they were doing this in huge numbers. so there were hundreds of dragon flies everywhere. fish were eating them off the top like crazy everytime i would see a fish i thought was good size swirl on them i would cast to it and almost everytime get bit. probably caught about 20-30 fish doing this in a hour. most around 1 pound the biggest got there pic taken. i might be back out there in the morning. hopefully a hog tommorow.

you obviously do know what you are talking about. i havbe been trying 10 worms weightless but i dont have confidence in the rate of fall. if i use any weight it will come back with weeds everytime.loucipher wrote:I was a compliment. Not many here do as you do.

RE:small lakes and storm ponds
dont texas rig it, try a split shot about 2 feet up the line you may pull a little weeds but the worm will still work and drop deep enough. it always worked for me in heavy weeded areas

RE:small lakes and storm ponds
Try the Manns hardnose worms. The hardnose has just enough thicker plastic to give it some extra weight without getting caught up in the weeds. I throw these a lot in heavy weeds when a bullet weight would spook them.tnj8222 wrote:you obviously do know what you are talking about. i havbe been trying 10 worms weightless but i dont have confidence in the rate of fall. if i use any weight it will come back with weeds everytime.loucipher wrote:I was a compliment. Then again, it looks like you're having no problem catching them from your new honey hole

RE:small lakes and storm ponds
theres been alot going on for me so i havent had many chances to get to the pond. i went on friday i think it was the 10th and sunday the 12th. friday was a bluebird sky and visability in the water was probably around 3 feet. i got one fish worthy of a pic. def tough fishing on bluebird skys.
sunday was a little better, i got out at 5 am and started getting hit right away. caught a couple dinks right off the bat. made it to the first flat and hooked one about 3 pounds that jumped right next to me and got off. we have been pinching the barbs when we fish this pond. next cast another good fish. caught another descent fish then decided that was good enough for today.
