Shore / Bank Fishing techniques
Just wanted to get everyones take on what works best for you when you're fishing from the shore / bank or docks. I'm still "boat challenged" for another week....that's right....you heard me right, 'ol bassackwards is gonna be water-bound in a week or so. I'm gonna either get a canoe or a small aluminum boat.
I know this isn't the forum for this but, if anyone has a nieghbor or knows a guy...who knows of a guy that his sister works with that MIGHT have a small boat or canoe for sale, PM me if you don't mind.
Now, back to what works best from the shore....
Thanks all

crankbaits cast right up next to the dock down its length or to standing wood in the water also work pretty well. I have also had luck dropshotting from shore or dock.

Although I am not a great fan of spinnerbaits, they are a good choice for bank fishing. I hooked my largest bass ever casting a spinnerbait from the shoreline. The thing I like best about them is that they rarely hang up and I hate loosing lures. In a boat you can usually retrieve them but from the shoreline your only option is pull them free or break them off.
A nice bass is too valuable a resource to enjoy catching only once.

Weightless zoom lizards next to cover "lilly pads mostly"
This technique will catch fish in about every lake ,
Even off of shore or on a dock.

Thanks for the tip Jake...I'm off to Sportman's tomorrow to get some lizards for this weekend. I might hit Yellow Lake again or maybe Lake Alice, both have good lilly pads.jake campbell wrote:Weightless zoom lizards next to cover "lilly pads mostly"

No need to make long casts when the fish are 10-20 feet off shore. I guess it depends on where youre fishing though. Drewp and I were site fishing from the shore on Lk Union only 5 days ago. We were drop shotting/swimming purple lizards and grubs. Just be sure to not let the fish see you. An old wise man once said, "if you can see them, they can see you."

Thanks guys...
Sounds like I need to rig up a few Carolina and drop shot's. I think my problem is I try and fish these toooo fast. I'm typically a topwater, spinner, crank, popper kinda fisherman. I need to work on my soft plastics a bit.
I appreciate the info.

i do alot of shore fishing cuz my dads to busy to take me out on the boat and he wont let me take it myself, but from my experience ive had the best luck on grubs. i just hook a yamamoto grub in watermelon with red and blk flakes on a jig head. always produces really well for me. if its early morning i like using top water. mostly a rapala floating minnow in silver and a blk back. it works great for me wen i go to the eastern with my cousins and friends. caught my first walleye that way and my second largest smallie too. my current smallie personal best was caught with the grub. give em a shot.

I agree. T-rig it if you find yourself snagging too much.Rizzla wrote:i do alot of shore fishing cuz my dads to busy to take me out on the boat and he wont let me take it myself, but from my experience ive had the best luck on grubs. i just hook a yamamoto grub in watermelon with red and blk flakes on a jig head. always produces really well for me. if its early morning i like using top water. mostly a rapala floating minnow in silver and a blk back. it works great for me wen i go to the eastern with my cousins and friends. caught my first walleye that way and my second largest smallie too. my current smallie personal best was caught with the grub. give em a shot.
