NW TIGER PAC are "Keeping Our Roadside Clean"

Post by KUP » Sat Jun 20, 2009 1:45 pm

The NW TIGER PAC has joined the approximately 110 volunteer organizations currently participating in the Adopt-a-Road Program. These groups monitor roughly 600 miles of roadways throughout Pierce County.

Chapter #57 is following in the footsteps of the National Organization, MUSKIES, INC. which encourages all of the Chapters to get involved in their local communities and give a little something back. It is just one of the ways they promote civic pride, environmental responsibility, preserves habitats, and improve motorist safety.

TIGER PAC members have volunteered to take on the 2 mile stretch of county road near the entrance to Lake Tapps. Four times a year, they will clean the two 1 mile stretches on either side of the intersection at the entrance to Lake Tapps
As a Bonus, they also agreed to clean the road leading down to Lake Tapps Park!

They are motivated by the desire to preserve the healthy, scenic environment Pierce County is noted for.
They want to create a partnership with citizens and local government to promote civic pride and preserve our clean environment by eliminating roadside litter. What is on the land eventually ends up in the water.

And it saves money! Road Operations crews spend about $250,000 and many hours cleaning roadside litter and illegal dump sites each year (about 400,000 pounds of trash). Without Adopt-a-Road volunteers these numbers would be significantly higher.

TIGER PAC Volunteers are helping to Keep our Roadsides Clean!

Their first clean up is scheduled for August 9, 2009. A Free Lunch is provided afterwards, by the Chapter.

Tiger Muskies are sterile.
You can't keep them under 50 inches:
Let them do their job: Eating N.P.Minnows

 Good job Chapter 57 for taking on the roads leading to the County Park, they do get messy. If Bill and I are still around here we'll definitely try to get out and help that day. I'm also planning on showing up the 5th of July at the park to help with the Chapter 57 clean-up, Brett says it is a real mess after the 4th of July celebrations there. Hope to see a bunch of club members there since we haven't got to visit with you guys lately and we miss seeing you all.

Agreed, that strech along the dikes is a mess! It will be nice to see it cleaned up. All the work my family did on dike 4 earlier this year has already been undone by the party'rs. Heart breaking.

No one is going to protect our fisheries better that us, the WDFW and other agencies can only do so much and there are less of them now than before.

We, the anglers, number in the (100's of thousand.. millions maybe) and need to put our best foot forward and lead by example. If we do, we can help ensure the health of our fisheries and show the public that we are dedicated and that the monies that go into the fisheries programs is doing alot of good.

I'll be out of town on the 9th but look forward to seeing the results.

Cheers

Very well stated guys,

I think this is a great investment for all to follow. I haven’t been to Tapps yet this year but I can only imagine what it looks like. I'm hoping that some of the residents realize that we are not there to abuse there lake but to enjoy and care it as I hope they do as well.

Great job...
