Sometimes it pays to post a note.

Post by BentRod » Mon Jun 22, 2009 10:52 pm

Had a cool thing happen today at Beaver Lake. Finally got out fishing again after the birth of my daughter. My Dad and I went to Beaver Lake and while we were putting in I noticed a sign tacked on the fence near the water. It read "Found - two poles and reels. Call and describe." It was a pretty tired looking sign and sopping wet. After I parked the truck and was walking back down to the water, I noticed another sign tacked to the WDFW sign in the middle of the parking area. It read "I accidentally left a couple of poles here after I got done fishing. If found, please call me." This sign had also seen better days.
I thought, naw....couldn't be. But then thought, what the heck, it's only a phone call, what could it hurt? Called the number of the guy who lost his poles and left a message about the other sign along with the number listed on that sign.
About 30 minutes into fishing I got a call from the dude who lost his poles. He called to say thanks because it turned out that those were indeed his poles and was on his way to pick them up  . He was very grateful that I took the time to call.
What are the odds? Guess I should have rushed out and bought a lotto ticket. :thumleft:

Moral of the story, sometimes it pays to put up a note.

Tight lines and keep it reel!

Hey, to cool!!! Two thumbs up for BentRod :thumleft: :thumleft: =d>

Good to hear when things like that work out. Nice when some one takes that little bit of time to make a complete strangers life a little happier.

Fly Fishing is the art of attaching a fake bug to a line and relying on the appropriate manipulation of the rod to deceive the fish into eating a sharp steel hook covered with feathers and fur.

Hey Guys,
Thanks for the good words. I could use some good Karma, but I have a healthy little girl, so that will suffice!
She was born on Friday, June 5. 8lbs, 15oz. Aside from sleep deprivation, we're all doing well. :thumright

Poor mom proud dad  8lbs 15oz is a lunker! our boy was born may 21st at 8lb 13oz. I can relate on the sleep deprivation. If he's sleeping, I'm on guard. If he's awake, i'm on guard. doesn't leave room for us to sleep does it?!
