RE:Spining or Casting reels ?
Understand that lemagoat is unlike your "normal" Basser,..if there is a norm,..lol,..it's his style 2 use what he uses and believe me the man flat out catches BIGGUNS,..I know that he uses what most Bassers will not and 2 me it dosen't matter,..like I said,..he catches HOGS,..as for the SB issue,..one has 2 consider the source of the debate,..T-Dot is a Swimbait guy as am I,..2 T-Dot an 8" Swimmy is small,..but again that's just him,..what most consider a Swimbait he might not,..but either way I agree with lemagoat and I say whatever the Angler is comfortable with and where his/her confidence stands is what type of equipment he/she will be using,..JM2Pennies!

RE:Spining or Casting reels ?
Again, the rules have exceptions. My son tosses lures on a heavy spinning rod, with much heavier line then 8 #, mostly because he does not like Baitcasters.AnglersRevenge wrote:the way i understand it, is this baitcaster for line larger than 10lbs and lures that 3/8 oz and bigger,
Spinning reels are used for 8lbs and lighter and 1/4oz lures and smaller
if you ever tried to cast a baitcaster with lighter line you will find you will end up having alot more birds nest and add a lighter lure such as a 1/4oz and you are gonna have a hell of a time. hence the reason you genreally see spinning reels that are not rated for more than 8lb test. IMO
I toss baits as light a 1/8 on a baitcaster, using a 7' ML baitcaster rod and a high priced Zillion baitcaster.
But, speaking in generalities, you are correct.
Too much water, so many fish, too little time.
