Anybody see the new Star Trek yet?

Post by The Quadfather » Tue May 19, 2009 6:17 pm

I went to the new Star Trek movie the other night. I was wondering if anybody out there has seen it, and better yet l was looking for some "Old school" dudes, who remember the original episodes. This movie is done as a Prequal to the original story.
Funny thing... I laughed my *** off when somebody in the film was calling somebody else a "Cupcake":bounce: :bounce: I don't think I need to explain myself to you guys.

I liked the movie pretty well. I thought that they did an amazing job with some of the actors playing the original characters. Spock, McKoy, and Scotty, were great. "Damn it Jim! I'm a Dr. not a (fill in blank) "But Captain!! I need more dylithium crystals,, I'm giving it all I've got. Priceless:albino:
I thought the time travel stuff was a bit wacked though.
Time travel in any kind of movie just doesn't come off for me. Anyway, curious what anyone thought.

I'm not a Trekkie, never have been, but I got roped into seeing it because my boys wanted to. I wasn't sure what to expect but I actually liked it! It was quite humorous, too. I give this one a "thumbs up", worthy of some lost fishing time.

Not so for "Angels and Demons" that my wife roped me into the following weekend. What a frigging bust....horrible plot, horrible acting, horrible everything. Definitely a "thumbs down". I should have upset her and gone fishing!

Haven't seen it yet, but look forward to it. Not a trekie either, but just enjoyed the series. They're showing it on IMAX in Bellevue, think it'd be worth it to go see on that screen?

My wife and I saw it last weekend and thought it was great. We both thought the actors fit the parts they all played very well. We will buy it when it's out on DVD. I would also bet they make more with the same cast.

I agree. I really liked the flick. I agree with you Quadfather, the time travel thing was stretching it (even for a sci-fi movie), but otherwise, I thought it was outstanding! Excellent job on the casting. I thought this was a great pre-quel. In the Star Trek thing of things, I found that it complimented the series.

I saw it last night matter of fact! I thought it was a solid movie consdering I'm not a huge fan of Star Trek.

Pretty entertaining movie, keep me interested! Best movie in the box office right now in my opinion, I thought Terminator would be good, but heard bad reviews and decided against it.
Go Huskies!
