Cast for Kids Charity Seahawks outing on Lk. Wa Sunday

After licking my wounds from the severe beating I took on Saturday at the NWBass tourney, it was time to get back to business and do something I absolutely love and that's working with and representing the Cast for Kids foundation. This event was especially interesting in that a) they had their national spokesperson Clay Dyer on hand to give some motivational speeches to the kids (and the adults!), and b) they had various Seahawks players and coaches on hand to lend their support. It was wrapped up with a live auction and a silent auction including a bunch of Seahawks personal autographed memorabilia with all proceeds going to the foundation. Chris Treffry whom I sure many of you know was also on hand and he brought up a Pontoon Boat from Auburn Sports and Marine and ended up taking Matt Hasslebeck and his son along with a few others out. I was paired up with the Hawks Defensive Coordinator Gus Bradley and his three kids, and for the record, that's one heck of a nice guy and a great family of kids! We didn't have too much time to fish, but I did manage to get them one decent smallie. It was quite an honor to meet Clay Dyer, and for anyone who doesn't know who he is, this is a professional bass fisherman, who was born with no legs, and only one stump on one of his arms, yet this guy is without a doubt the most positive, upbeat and enjoyable human being you could ever hope to associate with. It was a proud moment for me, and a great way to decompress from a horrible tournament, and to help remind me of what is important in my life, and it's not competing in or how well you do in tournaments, it's helping a good cause because you truly want to, not because you feel you have to! The fact that I had a great outing with Gus and his three kids, and then we were given a personal tour of the new Hawks training facility (OMG - It's Amazing!!!) was just the icing on the cake. I don't want this to sound too much like an advertisement but if you ever have a chance to donate your boat/time etc., and work a cast for kids event where you get hands on experience with disabled children, I promise you it will change your life forever! I've been working with Cast for over 10 years now, and every event leaves me with such a high I can't even explain it. After it was all said and done I took my fiancee' into the Canals because she'd never been there, and we managed to catch one more smallie on a shaky head. Just a great day!
