Buying new boat - Have many questions

Well.. I'm in a foul mood today. I got notice from Hewescraft that Skippers Bills had received my boat yesterday. Called them up to see when I can pick it up...

Late next week. NEXT week. 2 weeks to outfit a boat??? Honestly, I expected them to get the boat last week and I had hoped it might just be ready for me tomorrow. But ANOTHER week? Pffft.

I don't know what all is involved in the dealer's prep, but they have to prep and run the motrs in addition to mounting them on the boat as well as install whatever options you've requested. I know it's hard to wait, but they will do you right. It's hard to be patient when you want to just get it and go. We had to wait almost a week on ours, and it was in stock. All they had to do was hang the kicker and add a tach for the big motor, didn't seem like a lot to me at the time, but I know how well they take care of customers so I just toughed it out. Soon you'll be enjoying that new boat and grinning the big grin.:bball:

I got the call today from Skipper Bills. They want me to come in and pick the boat up Tuesday afternoon at 1...

I'll be at work then and won't be able to get there before they close. Looks like I'll have to pick it up on Wed. :/

Here's my understanding of the time we'll need to accomplish the boat prep. We need to wash the boat with a degreaser and let it dry overnight? Next day we put the first coat of Sharkhide on it. Next day we put the second coat of Sharkhide on it. After that, it should be ready to get on the water and break the motors in. We'll need a few hours of initial breakin on each one.

If that is the case, and you are game and have nothing more to do but to cater to my over anxiousness and impatience, we could have this ready to go by the weekend and start the breakin.

You got it right! Sounds like we'll be doing some Sharkhidin' soon as you get the boat here. I'll have a spot cleared out just for your boat. We could wash and dry the boat, then use compressed air to blow out any water along the chine and get the first coat down same day as you bring it out too! All up to you, just let me know what your plans are. I think I sent you my phone number in a PM but I'll send it again just to make sure.

You need one dedicated hour of run time on the big motor, and two hours on the kicker. John will go over all the details when you pick your boat up. I'd be happy to go there with you, but I got hired a week ago Friday and I'm working full time again so daytime freedom is gone, but everything is a go after I get home about 6:00.:bball:

Yeah, I know, I wasn't thrilled about it either. That's what happens when you're receiving unemployment, you still have to actually search for employment, even if you don't want to get hired. I knew the odds were against me staying unemployed, and my "fears" were realized. Oh well, at least I can get my hot water boiler faster this way, and that will be the icing on the cake for working on my own.

Pulls it just fine. My Ranger has the factory tow package, external tranny cooler, 4.10 gears with limited slip, factory installed class III receiver hitch, etc. When I'm towing anywhere other than on mostly flat ground or downhill slopes, I just turn the OD off. No need to temp fate, and that's what my owner's manual recommends anyway.

Now, on the really big pulls, like the coming up the grade from Fort Spokane, it works pretty hard, so I just downshift and get the rpms up in the middle of the torque curve and climb out without a problem. Might not be running at the speed limit, but I don't care, and I won't go over 60mph with the canvas up anyway. :bball:
