Bass fishing this weekend

I am gonna bass fish beaver lake near my house this weekend and was wondering what to use. The water temp is 53-54 degrees. What are the top lure choices or depths to fish for largemouth right now?

FM, take a look around at what people are using on other lakes right now. Seems like bass fishing has been really slow, but has got to start picking up sometime. I've tried it a couple of times on Beaver over the last few weeks and have not had any luck using grubs and rapalas, but the water temps were cooler. I have not tried drop shotting yet or much in the way of crankbaits. Good luck.

Don't know that lake, but I know of a couple of fish caught on spinnerbaits already. I've been tossing jigs and jerkbaits and catching fish in the 3-6 lb range. Lost one on a Senko too. Temps are the same where I'm fishing. Fish slow

I've been getting a few in the 2-10 ft deep range. Start shallow and work from there FM. They are finally ready to eat and get some rays, so look for them there.

Jigs, Jigs, spinnerbaits, any slow moving bait really. Drop shot baits of all sizes til the fish tell you what they want. Jigs !

Sounds like fish shallow cover and if nothing work deeper. Just make sure to fish slow. Sounds like fishing a jig could be very productive too.

In the float tube, it's hard to know the depth exactly. The areas I caught fish were 2-3 feet deep and close to shore. Jig was a pumpkin colored with red strands dunno-the-brand with a beaver trailer. Jerkbait is a Kinami brand and was just tied on and twitch, twitch, pause. They hit the jig light..it just felt funky or a very slight tap so I set the hook. Jerkbait hits were when it was paused and it just got heavy. Same with the Senko. Good luck

Everyone else has given you some great advice regarding fishing slow, and CrisB's emphasis on jigs, other baits, and jigs. I have fished Beaver quite a bit, and early in the season have done the best on jigs, soft plastics on a jig head, or other slow moving baits in rainbow trout colors. One specific area to work is the first point to the right of the boat launch (as you are facing out from the launch looking across the lake). This area has a fairly hard bottom, some good weed cover, seems to get a decent amount of sun, and most importantly, is adjacent to deep water. Fish this area, and similar areas hard, starting shallow and slowly working out deep as ChrisB said. Good luck, and let us know how you did.

We are on the same page bro this is the time of year to start getting jiggy wit it !! since last year spring i have found the power behind the jig and now that i know and have extreme confidence im not looking back .. i got you man !! and for the record where i come from we dont call it rigging a jig .. we say " dressing it up" ...lol .she wears a prudy skirt and a fancy bottoms , we file her nails and now she is ready to play at the beach ! ... dars dat southern swag coming outta me again .. suunn !! :albino:

I've only been largemouth fishing twice so far this Spring for a few hours at a whack, but the two times I've been out the fish have been choking the jig. If you are after quality fish, don't be afraid to use a big, full skirted jig with a large plastic or pork trailer. Use stealth and quiet, accurate presentations. Good luck!

if i was going to beaver this weekend i would bring two jig rods a spinnerbait rod and a swimbait rod. the swimbait rod because i just got a new one and want to play with it. seriously though like almost everybody said toss jigs man.
