Man,

just call the cops. I have dealt with this on many lakes...it just blows my mind. On the lake I grew up on, we would always tell people "our water" had floated over in front of their house, and we were pretty sure theirs was somewhere else, but if we saw it we would ask it to go back home. It made us laugh.

The law is very clear on water rights. You can fish in front of any dock..just respect their shore, dock, and boat, and they can get as mad as they want....all the way to the back of a sherriff's car.

The drinking I don't allow, well, because of what you have seen. Drinking and fishing don't mix in my opinion.

Too bad Sparky . . . . it was the exact opposite of why we all head out into the peace. The guy was way out of line. Not respecting you having a having a child on board is a double fault. Glad you kept your cool - the whole thing is a little scary . . . . makes one want to fish the undeveloped side of the lake and put up with the skiers.

As for the guy at the ramp !?!?!? unbelievable!

call the cops, he would have been arrested for drinking in public and harrasment. im sure a handfull of other charges as well..

one time i was fishing joy lake with tangledline tdot and basstradaumas. we fished a dock and this guy started throwing rocks at us and said its his dock. we just left, he could have easily got his butt kicked as tangled line and I are both black belts. some people are just plain dumb and dont know what they might be getting themselves into.

You handled yourself good FlippinFool, especially with your young son around. No idea what could have happened if the weight would have hit your boat though. I've never ran into something that ridiculous.

It is Angle lake though so I guess before fishing there you have to be prepared. Sad world.

You handled it well. Good on you. Too many idiots thinking they own the water. Had a home owner once tell me that I was fishing in her swim area and her property. I politely told her the designated swim area was at the county park and this was public water..tho I'd be sure to avoid fishing fishing around her dock next time if it would make her happy. She just stormed off. Whatcha gonna do?

We are trolling Dike 4 at Tapps, the big motor had died and all we had with the 28lb thrust motor to move us around. As were pulling up to the docks, this lady in a 21 footer was just bobbing around wating for the driver of the rig that just launched her.

We pulled up and ASKED if she was pulling up to the slip because we would like to dock if she wasnt. She started in on us "Well if you want something why dont you just f*&^&% ask..." Needless to say this wasnt going to go well. I just gave the Minnkota 100% and pointed it in. She acted like she was going to do something about it to stop us. I had to ask her if she was capable of moving it or if she wanted me to climb on board and do it for her. She moved. When her companions came down from the lot, she pointed at us and was carrying on with the guy that just showed. I wasnt ready for this part... He yelled at her to shut up and sit down, and they left.

Makes no sense to be such a pain to others for no reason.

Last year the wife and I were fishing one of the seep lakes south of Potholes.
While fishing we noticed one of them motorized surf board things down by the launch.
These folks were rippin it up and having a good time. They stayed down by the launch and I thought these folks are using there heads and not bothering the guys fishing witch was grate but as we came in to load I noticed they had there van parked across the launch, this was strike 1.
there was a gal out on the board that had no idea of what she was doing and was going around in circles tring to learn how to work this thing. As we pulled in this guy was waist deep in the loading area with some teenagers and had the whole launch tyed up. My wife got out and headed up for the truck and this guy grabbed my boat and told me to take him out to his wife on the board. I was stunned, Strike 2. Then this dude jumps up on the front deck and darn near sits on my glasses and just missed one of my rods, Strike 3. as we floated out over about 10 feet of water I came to my sences and told him in no uncertain turms to get off my boat. It wasen't until he slid off the front of the boat that he realized we were no longer in shallow water. It seems that when some folks get near the water they loose there minds.

and I thought I was the only one who attracted the crazies! Whew, glad it isn't just me. I have my own stories to share, but don't have the time or the space to write it all. :)
If some of these people were never taught to respect others rights, who knows what else they were not taught....morals?
ff and the rest of you show great restraint. Good job out there and for teaching the next generation self-control. I know it's hard when some of these people need a lesson from the book of Sole, size 12.

These stories are why SWMBO and I sit on the boat, anchored up just off to the side of the boat launch on sunday afternoon. Its cheap entertainment to see the lunacy. Then we start her up, cruise back to the house, tie it up for the night, and have dinner...

Flippin, be careful. What you did is actually illegal in the state of Wa (brandishing) and you could get cited for it.

Feel your pain brothers, I think most of have been in a few situations like that. Flip, you did the right thing with your son being on board. Good teaching moment for you and him. Let's him know that there is some real @$$ holes in this world and that your man enuf not to stoop to that level. I personal carry the WAC code in my wallet. It has the Washington State law that says as a fisherman, you have the right to be where you are fishing. Most of the time this shut's up the angry person. I also encourage them to call 911 themselves, invite the cops out and let's get it settled. All have refused so far in my experience. Last but not least, my co-anglers Smith and Wesson are with me and let's just say 12 yrs in the army, gun control for me is using two hands.
That being said, I do my very best not to hook and lose stuff on people's dock. I understand their point of view, that it is dangerous for them to have a bunch of broken off lures and hooks in and around their dock. If I do hook something, I always try to retrieve it and if that means stepping on their dock and they have a problem with that, I gently remind them that I am trying to retrieve a hook so as not to leave it behind for their safety. This approach usually gets a thank you from them. And I tell them sorry for the inconvience.
With all that, you sometimes just can't reason with the moron's that have liquid courage in them. Most of the time just moving along and just keep your head down and keep fishing. Tight lines everyone.
