Prefishing for the Potholes open. The weather is holding up over there and I predict around 50lbs to win it.

When youre up to your rear end in alligators, its hard to remember that the initial plan was to drain the swamp.

It's a two day event. First day leaders will have 25 to 30lbs and follow it up with 22 to 25lb on day two as the water gets beat up, the bags will go down. Also this event is a 6 fish limit per team, so 12 fish for around 50lbs is a 4lb+ average.

I have never fished in a bass tournament, nor have I ever had a boat with a livewell. My question is how long do the bass stay alive in the livewell, and do you generally release them after official weighing and pictures? New process to me.

The bass stay alive all day in the livewell, or at least thats the goal. It needs to be aerated water obviously. After the weigh-in, you release the fish off site, generally a mile or two from the ramp, or wherever you caught them if you please. The bass will stay alive in a properly running livewell til it dies from starvation, probably.
