A little bit of fun stuff here..
So, I realize that we are all a llittle utilitarian here in the great Pacific NW. I would like to splurge and buy myself a special JDM reel that is all tricked out, specially tuned, and custom, but I can not bring myself to drop the coin necessary to make it happen. Examples of what I think are considered "Enthusiast Tackle" are reels like the Ito Monoblock, I'ze Millionaire Light, Diawa SSS Ringa, Daiwa Pixy and other such reels. Does anyone here actually posess and use any of these highly customized reels?

Man I've gone back and forth on wanting jdm reels for a while now.
I almost got a okuma red isis but they didnt have a lefty, and i was close to a conquest but ended up with just a domestic calcutta TE cuz i got a great deal. I think I like utility too much on reels to get something enthusiast priced though.

I haven't strayed past the JDM lures and magazine into the rods and reels yet. I recommend checking out the Enthusiast section of the tackletour.com forum if you haven't already. In addition, tackletour.com may have reviews of these reels on their site.

Before I die, I will have a Pixilla. That's a Pixy with a beefed up drag. My only concern with acquiring such gear is I'll be too chicken to use it and it might end up in a display case.:bigsmurf: Purrty stuff.
