3 Rivers Seminar

Post by Rosann G » Sat Feb 21, 2009 8:13 pm

Tom S. you sure did a great job of putting together the powerpoint presentations for Perry, Brett, Mike, Bill and Buddy and they all did a good job of presenting the material today at the seminar. Bruce, it was neat to get to see pictures of the baby muskies getting tagged over at Ringold last week, thank you for sharing those along with your interesting as usual powerpoint presentation. We had alot of people show up to listen to you guys and had an awesome raffle too giving away a bunch of fishing lures and even an Xbox with a couple of games. Sorry Bill and I didn't get to stay around to visit with everyone but we had an important 1st birthday party to attend for our newest grandson. You guys all did a wonderful job, thank you!!!

Rosann, wasn’t that a hoot? And we started off the early morning with Brett Olson being interviewed via phone conference, on the air, live, at KJR Wild County AM 95 with Joel Shangle and company. He was outstanding!

And if I might add a little more detail (also available on our web site, with pictures coming soon : www.nwtigermuskies.org ) The Seminar was a great success with some 47 people participating. Tom Schafenacker was point man on this and had every detail covered and put together a comprehensive Power Point Presentation for the event. All of the speakers used the over head screen so all the anglers in the audience were captivated by our special graphics, detailed info and of course, pictures of our venerated muskies! Both Brett Olson, Chapter 57's 2008 Angler of the Year and Mike Floyd, Angler of the Year for 2007, showed everyone tips and tricks about catching and releasing our Tiger Muskies and some of the rods/reels/line needed. Bill Green explained the details of trolling and the need for proper tools. People really appreciated his in-depth report about Lake Tapps, too! Perry Peterson shared about M.I at the National level and Buddy Hartman, our Chapter President, explained who we are and what we do for the fishery. Bruce Bolding, WDFW Biologist, Warm Water Specialist and Muskie advocate, gave his entertaining yet informative presentation about the stocking program, which included some brand new slides of our baby muskies over at the Meseberg Hatchery; they are growing like weeds and very healthy!

Person traveling the farthest to attend? Chapter member Doug M. from Eugene Oregon, some 6 ½ hours to the south. Great to see you Doug!

As Rosann said, the raffle included a VERY generous donation of an X BOX Pro which also included the Rapala fish game and the outrageous Gears of War video game. We also gave always a table full of prime, brand new muskie lures. The seminar and the raffle were a huge success, due in no small part to the organization of Tom and the dedication of some very generous Chapter members and the esteemed Bruce Bolding. Way to go, Team TIGER PAC and WDFW and 3 Rivers Marine for all your support! It was an awesome day for Chapter #57 and the Tiger Muskies. Special Thanks for all who came!

Tiger Muskies are sterile.
You can't keep them under 50 inches:
Let them do their job: Eating N.P.Minnows

I would like to thank everyone for the effort they put into the 3 Rivers Seminar. Tom, you did a fantastic job of keeping everything on task and putting everything together. 3 Rivers Marine had a fantastic venue and was generous to let us use the space and serve lunch. Perry, Bruce with the WDFW, Brett, Mike, and Bill you all had excellent and very informative presentations. In this day and age, I know everyone has busy lives and it just shows the dedication that Chapter 57 has to the Tiger Musky Fishery and informing all who what to know more about it and how to best pursue and conserve this very special fish species.

Thanks Again Guys, Job well done.
