Other than Kevinb, has anyone been out to Tapps lately? Has the water come up enough to launch a 19' Ranger? My friend wants to break in his new boat later on this month, but is understandably concerned about launching a new boat if the water is still as low as Kevinb's pictures suggest.
Also, I was wondering if anyone could give a newbie (at least as far as Tiger Muskie fishing is concerned) any tips for the lake. Thanks in advance.

My wife and I were there Saturday. The water is pretty low, just like KevinB pics show.
I dont think I would have any problem launching my boat, assuming there are no holes or drop offs I couldnt see from the dock. I would like a new, lower profile trailer though.

There is or was a hole at the base of the North Tapps Park launch as of early last year.

I was out there Saturday morning with my dog. I've got 1 16 1/2 ft Alumacraft and at this point I would not put a boat in now. The water was at the edge of the ramp. Which is pretty far down. And a pretty good drop past that. It should start to be filled around March . I'd wait. Well, I have to wait. Lake is pretty low. Send me your email address. I can send you a bunch of photos I took. All east of the launch. Todd

I'd also hold off for a bit. I understand your enthusiasm but there's plenty of stumps and rocks to hit with the water down that far. Besides, the muskies are a bit slow this early. Smallies will be starting to turn on soon though.

Todd and Keven are the guys to listen too. Not only is the launch a bad idea but also the trees are just below the water surface, they will do a job on the lower end. If you just want to see if it runs good go to American Lake near Fort Lewis or Lake Washingmachine at Renton. Much safer choices.

Kevin, Look at the topo map on this sight, print off a copy, bring it to the next tigerpac meeting and I will give you some ideas where to get started when the water gets deep enough.
