Is there any information on Gibbs Lake? I saw it listed in WDFW regs as year round, selective gear regs and release all trout. I also read about it on Kitsap Fly Anglers website. What is the topography of the lake and size? I didnt see it listed on this website so I never knew about it. Is it a private lake or is there public access? Would consider going

if there was access.

Welcom to the site clark&lewis.

Sorry I didn't see this earlier and that no one has responded. I have been to this lake and it has no "official" access or launch. I would consider float tubing it or a canoe. Or from shore. You can get to it in quit a few spots from the road that runs along its entire east shore. There are a ton of laydowns and it is completly surrounded by woods. I don't know the depths of this lake and have never found a topo for it. The great thing about this lake is that you should be the only one fishing it and it offers complete solitude. This is the first time that I have ever heard about it having selective gear regs. I have tried to bass fish it because of the way it looks but have never done well. I would guess it is around 20 acres in size. I do know that is does have some nice Cutts and Catfish in it.

According to "Washington Fishing" By Terry Rudnick he says it isn't the best fishing hole but is a nice place to get away from it all. Trout 11 to 16. and catfish to 14 in. Fridays and Saturdays are party time at this lake. There is no access or other facilities. The Gibbs lake road goes along the lake and is the best place to fish from shore. During the week is quiet. You might be able to call Fish in the Hole 360/385 7031 or Quilicene Hotel at 360 765 3868. Looking in my other books and I found that the lake is 36.8 acres and 43.76 with swampy areas and elevation is 340 ft ....Max depth is 47 reported. I have a map of the lake and will try to post it after I get it scanned. It is in "Lakes of Washington Vol 1 second edition. 1965.

It worked ...Just click on attachment and you will get a topo picture of Gibbs Lake in Jefferson County. This book has lot's of lakes in Western Washington....I now have book Number 2 :Eastern Washington . I just found it on Google Shopping and went to Books.....Bingo!!! Thanks Steve

Thanks for the responses. I was wondering if it was my deodorant or something. I will have to try it sometime when I can get to that side. Glad the gas prices are dropping.

Good luck on getting that book. It has been out of print for some time. Maybe we can get the pages from Aaron. I sure would like to know where to get them on the PDF format. Just Plain ol' volume two ..."East Side Lakes" would be nice.

If you want to know more about Gibbs Lake just contact .... http://www.kitsapflyanglers.org/ ....I think Gibbs Lake is a home lake for the club. I have seen some fairly large fish come out of that lake. Good Luck to you, Steve

I found the vol 2 and purchased it on line thru Google Shopping. Easy as pie....Gotta look for a bargin though. The books range from $20.00 to $200.00. So shop around.

Aaron...Are you going to post all the pdf reference books you have to the site? I just got the Lakes of Washington vol 2 in hard back. Are these 17 books you have different than the Vol1&2? Thanks Steve

Is Gibbs anything like Sandy Shore,in terms of topography?

Sandy Shore is one of my faves but havn't been there in a few years...I heard that some logging was done in the area recently

Gibbs is similiar to Sandy Shores. Not as deep but great structure throughout the lake. If you mean completely surrounded by trees, tough access and limited shoreline fishing, then they are exactly the same. Both are great lakes to get away from everyone. Let me know if you go. I sure would like to know a definite on Gibbs having bass or not. No one has told me for sure. The lake looks great for a few large bucketmouths, but I have never seen one or got a bite, only trout.
And kb, I would highly recommend picking up Lakes of Washington Vol.1 that fishing collector mentioned. I picked one up after I talked to him about it last year. Tons of topos and lake info. you can't find anywhere else. I found mine on Biblio.com but don't see any on there right now. Look around, it is well worth it.

I would recommend to anyone to pick this book up. The first addition is for Western Lakes and the second addition is for Eastern Lakes. Cost is around $25 each (sold seperately) and it is a great resource.

I looked around for it and only found them through Google shopping. It isn't a new book so regular book stores won't have them. Look around and if you find the price lower than $35.00 then it's an ok buy! I think Google Shopping is going to be your best bet. Hope you all find one. It is a fantastic reference book for lakes, ponds, and mud puddles.

That's it. A newer addition with a different cover, but that is the info and MAN, what a price. I almost want to pick it up to give away to a friend. Good looking out Big D, nice find.

Seattle Public Library is where I found copies to look at to decide if I wanted to purchase it. Powells books in Portland is good source for any used books. I am now looking for topo of Teal lake in Jefferson Co.
