Fish must eat to live! Yes bass will bite all year long. I have caught bass with Ice on the water. Keep in mind the weather hinders us as fishermen the fish live with it. Just slow down and take your time fish cover hard and slow.
Are you hung up again!

Well I am not catching yet but am still fishing for them!
'course they don't have biscuits and gravy ... but if they did, I bet everyone would eat there.

When youre up to your rear end in alligators, its hard to remember that the initial plan was to drain the swamp.
RE:still catchin em?
Its certainly tougher...I got my first bass which also happened to be my first fish of the year.
Granted it was only 6 inches(lol) but I'll take it. I was actually fishing for crappies and got 'em.

Bass still have to eat! Like Kevin said it is tougher but you can catch them! Be sure you have a good scent on your bait and present your bait slow enough for the bass to think it is an easy meal! Most LMB can be caught real tight to cover right now! Try some jigs, t-rigged/carolina rigged plastics or just slow roll some reaction baits! By all means I am no master in the winter beings I havent caught one since nov. 28th! But i have only been out twice! But I have caught bass in wa waters below 45 degrees. My most productive periods have been later in the day when it is the warmest!trout assault sean wrote:really? do people still catch bass in mid winter?! lol

I am not sure that I could catch SMB this time of year, they seem to be just to hard to find.
But, LMB, oh yes, they are very catchable. I use to Ice Fish a lot, and not all that long ago. Most of the lakes that I fished in Southeast Idaho have trout and Bass in them, and the LMBs would hit as often as the trout.
If you read the reports about Elokia this time of year, you see that a lot of people catch the LMBs through the ice, as well as the perch, crappie, and trout that they are targeting.

Too much water, so many fish, too little time.

Find a lake with an open ended ice sheet. Fish the structure nearest the edge of the ice sheet and you will find bass. They are just like every other fish, waiting for a meal to thaw out of the sheet and drop in their lap. Be careful, however, as I hooked into what felt like the strongest fight ive ever had on this lake and had bad luck. Got color (green flash), but he darted under the ice sheet, swam up and bopped the hook against the sheet, and popped me off.
Stupid fish....

Does Beaver Lake have any Bass population in it?Or any good lake within the Greater Seattle area?

RE:still catchin em?
I believe Beaver does well with bass but I havn't personally fished it yet. But I've heard it mentioned several times
before. Its a little bit of a drive but Lake Sawyer is pretty good, also has a ton of crappie too

Sawyer is a decent lake. I had my boat on it 2 weekends ago. There was still ice on the water and temp was 38. Brrrr !
