Baby Tiger Tank a BIG Success!!

Post by KUP » Mon Nov 17, 2008 10:38 pm

Congratulations are in order for Chapter 57 of Muskies Inc. and especially Tank Fund Chairman, Mike Floyd.:bounce: :bounce:
The generosity of so many Chapter #57 members as well as 2 corporate donations made the goal happen in less than 3 months!!
AWESOME JOB, TIGER PAC!
Mike will complete the plan as he and President Perry will confirm the delivery to the WDFW Meseberg Hatchery in the near future.
Our Chapter agreed to help the tiger muskie rearing program, by buying an additional tank to avoid overcrowding.
Baby tiger muskies will have more room to grow, fat & sleek, thanks to all the NW muskies anglers who donated.
The tank is 600 gallons, cost $925.00 and is made of fiberglass and have a life expectancy of 20 years.
See the baby tigers in the photo? YOU helped make them happen, WTG:cheers:
THIS is why Chapter 57 is the fastest growing, most successful new team of Muskies Inc.
Our anglers know how to roll up their sleeves and open their wallets =d> to take care of our esox.

Please join me in giving Mike a big thanks for leading the team. :thumleft:

Tiger Muskies are sterile.
You can't keep them under 50 inches:
Let them do their job: Eating N.P.Minnows

Thanks Mike for leading the charge and a Big Thank You to everyone that donated money to the tank fund. We got there quickly but that's because everyone likes having more tigers to catch and release isn't it?!!!!!

Congrats Mike Floyd.
You did a great job.
I'm glad Todd nominated you for this project with the WDFW. Todd knows a good leader when he sees one.

Do we know what the stocking report looks like for 2009 yet?

WDFW usually gets 25,000 eggs from Minnesota DNR and typically about 6,000 survive to become stockable fingerlings. Last I heard, the 2009 crop was expected to be 9,000. As the regional biologists feel the eastern Washington lakes have healthy populations, most of this year's fingerlings will go into the western Washington lakes. The first 1,000 were released in September at Mayfield (300) and Merwin (700). Tapps, Mayfield, and Merwin are slated to get another 2,000 fingerlings each this spring, compared to a normal stocking level of 400 to 600 per year for these lakes. Tapps got only 194 in 2007 because of a smaller supply of fingerlings that year. So, the 2009 plant will give those lakes a nice population boost that should translate into better fishing 3 years from now.

What pull? I have no influence. Not even my dog listens to me. Stocking decisions are made by WDFW's professional biologists based on the department's fisheries management data and policies.

Hope so. I am just glad to hear that we are getting more fish. I was a little worried last year when the fish and game was talking about no fish being stocked because of all the problems.
