NVS: Gotta Pay To Play - PT.03

in generally these are must haves for bass fishing. to participate these items are mandatory - no excuses. to level the playing field every angler must have all items available at all times, or atleast fish with an angler who does.

if you dont have them, ask mommy and daddy, or you know what to ask santa for xmas.

GEAR:
- Digital Scale
- Digital Camera

time to separate the walkers from the talkers!

DIGITAL CAMERA:
like all anglers - stories are usually embellished. it depends with whom you are speaking with, as some may embellish more than others. to separate fact from fiction a digital scale is a must have - no if ands or buts aboot it. using the weight calculation [LWG] will not fly here. a simple $25 dollar digital scale will work wonders for anglers. it will display what a bass really weighs. saying that you are a bigger angler - yada yada yada, or putting a tape measure doesnt mean anything. we have caught numerous big headed / long fish that never brought the quality weight in.

your next step should be getting your scale certified, and it should be done on a yearly basis. you can get them certified through your club.

LINK:
- http://www.washingtonlakes.com/forum/ya ... -PT02.aspx

some scales maybe off by alot or a little, and some are just dead on. we always carry 2 on the boat. having a certified scale will just further validate your catch. a certified scale holds more truth than an uncertified scale.

DIGITAL CAMERA:
as with most stories, they should to be followed by pictures. without them, they are just that... a story. your average camera phone will not take a quality picture of the fish and the digital scale read out.

as you can see you cant have one without the other. so if you dont have them, you know what to do...

any q's?

digital camera - check
digital scale - check

It is new, but not certified, and I do not belong to a club.

My scale's not Certified either,..but if understand T's post correctly,..it's more prudent 2 HAVE a Digital Scale/Digital Camera than it is for the scale 2 be Certified by a Bass Club!

SCALES:

scale certification is not mandatory, but is highly suggested, as not all scales are created equal. your club will test out you scale with precision weights. they will check how the scale performs on the low end, and on the high end.

ours are dead on, both on low and high weights. ive seen others that weigh low @ high weights. so if you want to be precise, i suggest you get them certified by your club. as you never know a 4'12oz bass might be your 5lbs bass. if you are willing to take those numbers then by all means.

in our club it is mandatory if you want to submit weight slips. so we will leave it optional until we fell otherwise.

I have a very accurate scale. XTOOLS... I've wiegh multple items on a certified UPS,FEDEX,and USPS scale. Then weighed the same items on my XTOOLS, all the items scaled dead on. But all digital scales listed have a .01-/+ differential.

Should make it video camera madatory!!! So you can share it with your grand kids and just in case you get alzheimer's you can see it agian hahahaha.

I've got boga grips w/built-in scale (not digital). From what I've read, they are pretty accurate -- which is one of the reasons they cost twice as much as the knock-offs...

If anyone has an open spot on their vessel.I'd be game for this or I could bring mine but have some work to do on it.
I guess I'd be on the south according to the map lines. It doesn't matter to me,..I just want to hook up with some cool people and do some fishing.
