Braided line!!!

thats pretty cool sparky I can't imagine it makes much difference bass fishing but It certainly helps saltwater fishing

Just goes to show that you can't go wrong with power pro. I'm surprised fireline did so well. Do you guys use it? I tried plain old "smoke" fireline last year and it was fairly decent. I'd choose fireline over spiderwire any day, but neither of them is as good as power pro. (IMHO)

I can't believe that Super Brand can stretch 4 1/2 in. with only 25ft of line. That is a lot. I really didn't think braid would stretch that far. It must be a test to see the pound test breaking point and they can see how much it will give before snapping. Or "stretch" before snapping.

I have used Fireline for a couple of year now and have been happy with it. This was good information. Failure at the knots though has been a problem.

Yeah, I had a few knots come unbuttoned when using fireline -- and the knots were palomar!

Never tried a "San Diego jam" with fireline, but it works great with power pro & tuf line.

Yes it was maximum stretch before line failure.

Great info ... I was curious about the 4" stretch but it makes more sense now "stretch before failure". This year is the first time I tried braided line. My friend choose Spiderwire and my choice was Power Pro. I have been very happy with it and I now my friend is now switching over as well.

I remember seeing that article. I bought Stren super braid this week, first time with braid. I like some stretch cause I like to cross their eyes, so looks like I bought the right brand.

If it is the maximum stretch before line failure, and the failure point isn't listed, wouldn't it be possible for a stronger line end up showing that it had more stretch since it would have more weight applied to stretch it out? I think that a better comparison might be inches of stretch with X lbs of weight applied.

Either way, I use power pro on my flipping stick and muskie rod. Good stuff.

Make sure your burning your ends after tying a knot. If you just clip them they will come undone because of how slippery the coating is on the line.
Carry a lighter with you and burn the tag end of the line and pinch it. Of coarse don't do it right after you burn it but play around a little bit and you'll get it down. Your looking to get it as close as possible to your knot and flatten out the line by pinching it. Without burning your other line too.
If this doesn't make any sense I can explain a little better. A video would be nice I just don't know how to upload one.

Great info..What is the best knot to tie w/braid? I want to use the smallest diameter there is, and I was informed tying knots is difficult especially with using fishermans knot that I have used since I was yay high. All this talk about using a lighter, I might have to start smoking again!!

Most of the standard monofilament knots DO NOT WORK with braid (trilene, improved clinch, etc). The only knots I use with braid are the palomar & san diego jam. Palamar is definitely the smallest of the two. San diego jam is easier to tie when using large lures because I don't have to pull a 5 inch loop over the thing.

Braid to mono or floro use a double uni-knot,if you tie anything with the braid go with the palomar just like H.G said.If you start tying the palomar knot alot its second nature.I tie everything with it big cranks jigs jerkbaits swimbaits,dont matter its fast more time fishing less time wasting your life sitting there looking dumb HAHA:bom:
