Shore Fishing oppurtunities in Beacon Rock State Park?

Post by Jaxamillian » Wed Aug 20, 2008 7:20 pm

Hey all, were going camping this weekend to Beacon Rock state park. Does anyone know of any nice spots to catch anything?

I would be in debt to you if you could point me to a spot where I could catch some smallmouth, crappies, trout, perch (or really anything) off the shoreline. Thanks again. Especially if you could point me toward some smallmouth. hehe.

I was there last year in June and my first cast off the dock I caught a smallie easily over 20 inches..I caught another nice one off the shore too. I absolutely am in love with this spot. The action is incredible. I have not only caught smallies, but trout and walleye. I will be there this saturday too!! NO ONE fishes for smallmouth here. You will see lots of fisherman fishing but, for sturgeon and smallmouth are over looked...fine with me! I walked up and down and probably had a fish on every other cast..lots of 12-14 inchers, but the action is amazing. If you can, try and camp at one of the 2 sites at the boat launch. It is very quiet and away from everyone..well except during the day, but at night its very peaceful. PM me and I will be more than gladly share some tips and maybe run into each other saturday- I also hail from O-town...

Fishing opportunities abound down along the Columbia River. Many places along the river, where you can find access will provide some good smallie action and the small lakes connected to the reservoirs offer good shoreline fishing for both largemouth and smallmouth. I once caught an 8 pound, 4 ounce largemouth from one of these small lakes. Check out my article in "Tackle Box Tales" on page 5 for information on these lakes.
A nice bass is too valuable a resource to enjoy catching only once.

check out some of the lakes out by stevenson 1/2 hr east just east of the bridge of the gods on the north side of the road. then if you get skunked theres a great little cafe on the east side of town, next to the hardware store. awsome shakes and great breakfest.

Hey Jax, we must have missed each other. I was down to the right of the dock from 10:30a til about 5. I found where the smallies were hiding and was catching 1 every cast, well almost...I had one snap my 4 pound leader, and from the looks of it when it jumped out of the water, it was over 3 pounds. I have some nice pics on my phone, but I can't upload on here...Great day!
